In order to help students focus on their abilities and to help them define their interest in a way that will make college and career choices meaningful, Drexel Prep presents an Annual Career Day. This event takes place through Alumni partnership and participation. Alumni participation in Career Day is a meaningful way in which XUP and SKDP alumni reconnect and give back to their alma mater.
What is Career Day?
Students of all grade levels from 8th - 12th attend this day filled with workshop sessions, keynote speakers, and opportunities to network with successful individuals and business partners from a variety of companies throughout the Greater New Orleans community that come together to share information about their workplace, their job, and the education and skills that are required for success in their career. Most of these successful individuals are Xavier University Preparatory and St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory school Alumni.
Why does SKDP host an Annual Career Day?
SKDP's Annual Career Day is designed to meet specific learning objectives, helping students connect what they are learning in school with the workplace. Students are better positioned to understand their interests and aptitudes that enable them to make more appropriate college and career choices.
Studies report that understanding the link between education and career aspirations may be the single largest impact on an individual student's likelihood of completing college. High school graduates who expect they will need a college degree for the career they are interested in are more than six times as likely to earn their bachelor's degrees. Students who understand the relevance of a college education on their career interests are also more likely to be acadimically prepared for college and career.
When is SKDP's Annual Career Day?
The '22 - '23 School Year's Annual Career Day will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 during school hours of 7:35 am - 3 pm.
